Disastrous apricot crop puts lots pressure on the market.
Due to some extreme late frost nights after blooming, 90% of French and Italian apricot crop is considered to be damaged. For this reason buyers for the fresh market search for other origins like Greece or Spain.
But also Greece and Spain are facing a disastrous crop 2021. Together with a very poor crop, the harvest period in June was hit by some local hail storms. All this together makes this year an extreme bad crop with historical low yield output.
Producers are fighting to find raw materials at extreme high prices.
Buyers are looking to other products and origins like Maroccon Apricots as an alternative.
